Returning Soon, Press Print Party Explores the Sustainability of Independent Publishing Through “Codex”
Press Print Party (PPP) is returning for its third edition! Initiated by Yayasan Pustaka Seni Indonesia (YPSI), the art book fair will take place from 6–8 November 2026 at The Brickhall Fatmawati, Jakarta. The fair will be open from 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and from 2 PM to 9 PM on Friday.
This year, PPP takes “Codex” as its theme, a term referring to the bound-book format that laid the foundation for the book as we know it today. Unlike scrolls, which were previously used to present knowledge, this format brings pages together within a single object. By gathering, organizing, and preserving knowledge, the codex became a medium through which ideas and records could outlive the people who first held them.
Independent publishing carries its own forms of knowledge that circulate through encounters between authors, printers, publishers, and readers, passed from one person to another through years of practice. It encompasses how to keep producing amid uncertain resources, sustain a practice through difficult periods, and maintain publishing over the long term rather than in seasonal cycles. Much of this knowledge grows out of experience and is shared informally within the independent publishing ecosystem.
At PPP 2026, “Codex” has a role as a starting point for reflecting on the collective knowledge and practices that allow independent publishing to endure and evolve. This idea takes shape through PPPublish, a new initiative that gathers and documents knowledge surrounding print, press, and publishing practices. The initiative invites artists, designers, printers, publishers, and other practitioners to share their experiences, methods, and insights with the wider creative community.
The Country Focus: Australia program highlights efforts to strengthen connections between Indonesia and Australia through independent publishing and print culture. Featuring six Australian publishers and practitioners, the program includes an exhibition booth, book presentations, and talks, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange between the two countries’ publishing communities.
PPP 2026 brings together 98 exhibitors, comprising 68 from Indonesia and 30 international participants, including the six featured through the Country Focus program. Together, they represent a diverse range of publishing practices, bringing independent presses, collectives, writers, artists, and makers from Indonesia and beyond.
Alongside the art book fair, PPP 2026 will present a series of talks, workshops, book presentations, and other programs that expand conversations around publishing, print culture, and the ideas behind “Codex.”
Tickets for Press Print Party 2026 will be available for purchase at the venue throughout the event, and everyone is invited to join three days of books, print, conversations, and encounters at The Brickhall Fatmawati, Jakarta.
