Narimo ing Punkdoomed: Celebrating the Work of Jogja Designers

ADGI Jogja successfully held its first exhibition, Narimo ing Punkdoomed (NiPD), at Collabhub by Paragon, GIK UGM, from August 29 to September 5. The title Narimo ing Punkdoomed itself reflects the lived experiences of designers and visual practitioners in Yogyakarta.

Meaning “accepting the destiny that God has ordained,” the title raises a question: does acceptance require us to stop striving? The works presented in the exhibition offer a range of answers, shaped by the perspectives of each exhibiting artist.

In his opening remarks, Aryo Pamungkas, Chairman of ADGI Chapter Jogja, expressed his pride in the designers of Jogja. “We should be proud that, so to speak, our individuals, designers, and illustrators in Jogja have such great work. They are no less accomplished than those from other regions, perhaps even those in the capital,” said Aryo Pamungkas.

The exhibition featured 33 exhibitors in the main exhibition, 18 studios and collectives in the desk display, and 15 students and fresh graduates who took part in the student showcase. In addition to the exhibition, the program also featured a range of activities, including talks, workshops, and a design market.

The exhibition was made possible through the generous support of ADGI Jogja’s sponsors and partners, including Paperina, Lovise, Kaen, XP Pen, Imperial, and GIK, as well as Jakal Design Week as a partner and Radio Q as its media partner.

Representing the organizing committee, Nabila Adiandini expressed her hope that the exhibition would have a positive impact on the design industry ecosystem in Yogyakarta. “We hope that this exhibition can serve as a catalyst for future design exhibitions in Jogja, while also supporting the development of a healthy ecosystem for the design and creative industries in the city,” said Nabila.
