Indonesia Bertutur 2024 Opens with Maha Wasundari
After extensive preparation, the annual arts festival Indonesia Bertutur returns with this year’s edition being held in Bali. The event was officially opened for the public on August 7th, 2024, in five locations in Ubud and Lapangan Chandra Muka Batubulan. Adorning this event is the logo designed by garyanes two years ago. This year, Indonesia Bertutur also invited visual artist Cecil Mariani as the mind behind the pale pink and rich blue key visuals. These key visual reflect the festivity and diversity offered by Indonesia Bertutur 2024.
Maha Wasundari, the opening ceremony and performance, is a series of traditional Balinese dances and performances, showcasing the dynamic culture of the Balinese people which has harmoniously co-existed and evolved. Maha Wasundari refers to the splendor of water and earth which nourishes humanity. The program involved three genres of Balinese; Wali, Bebali, and Balih-balihan, which are acknowledged as world cultural heritage, in a solemn performance. "On this occasion, the Maha Wasundari performance also reminds us all as a society to appreciate culture and biodiversity as this is Indonesia's strength. If these two things are brought together, we can say that we have a bright future," said Hilmar Farid, Director General of Culture at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, at the Maha Wasundari Opening Ceremony and Performance of Indonesia Bertutur 2024.
“Indonesia Bertutur is held free of charge for the general public, presenting not only entertainment but also inspiration through various extraordinary works from selected artists. Hopefully this event will be welcomed by all levels of society, see you there!” said Taba Sanchabakhtiar, Director of the Indonesia Bertutur 2024 Festival. The festival is held in a total of seven venues over a period of 12 days until August 18, 2024.
