Books, Space, and Community: Sesi Berbicara Vol.11 in Semarang

In collaboration with Urun Warga by Gramedia Jalma, Sesi Berbicara Vol.11 takes on the theme "Ideas to Impact: Books, Practice, and Communal Space," a bridge between professional practice, knowledge, and reading culture. The event will be held at Domestik Coffee, Semarang, on May 16, 2026.

Sesi Berbicara itself is a collaborative media platform initiated by Bergrafis Design Bookstore, built on the belief that innovation emerges from the meeting of different perspectives. Over time, the platform has consistently brought together professional practitioners, academics, students, and members of the public with an interest in design, architecture, and visual culture.

The featured speaker for this edition is Rahmat Indrani, commonly known as Kibo, from SPOA Architecture and Smiljan Space. Kibo is known as an architect who developed the Reduhouse design method, an approach that reduces building elements to create a construction process that is more efficient and more relevant to the needs of contemporary living spaces.

Beyond the talk session, the event features Designer Bookcase, a collective library curated by Bergrafis Design Bookstore from the personal collections of six studios and creative spaces in Semarang: o-sik Works, Ffriends Studio, Karya Karja, Kurnia Bagus Design Studio, Hafid Santoso Architect, and Tiga1Enam Library.

There is also a Fun Drawing Workshop with Yuhu Project, a collective drawing activity paired with storytelling through visual exploration. For young graphic designers and architects, a Portfolio Review session with Dimas Anggoro of Makehistoria and Rangga Cahya of RCA Desain offers direct mentoring to discuss portfolios and readiness for the professional world.

The series of events closes with a Community Gathering and mingle session, a space to meet, exchange insights, and expand connections among individuals and creative communities in Semarang. The Sesi Berbicara program is intended to be more than just a discussion forum. It aims to be a meeting space that fosters new ideas, collaboration, and creative practices that are more open to the community.
