The Intersection between Data, Sound, and Visual Art at scan.tron.flux

On January 26, 2025, the scan.tron.flux: A Journey through Data and Sound exhibition by Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda was officially unveiled at Urban Forest Cipete, South Jakarta. The immersive exhibition by this renowned sound artist features three major works from his datamatics series, transforming the invisible world of data into mesmerizing art. The works displayed are a masterful intersection between mathematics, sound, and visual art.

Ryoji Ikeda is a celebrated figure in the global art scene who has exhibited at esteemed venues such as Paris, London, and Kyoto. His work continues to push artistic boundaries and has earned him prestigious awards, including the Prix Ars Electronica (Collide@CERN) in 2014 and the Japanese Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts in 2020.


Supported by ArtJakarta in collaboration with IndoArtNow and the installations featured at Urban Forest Cipete includes data.scan [n°1-9], data.tron, data.flux [n°1]. The immersive audiovisual experience pushes the boundaries of human perception and highlights the intricate relationship between the natural and technological worlds. Ryoji Ikeda’s  work is a poetic exploration yet rigorous analysis of complex systems, ranging from human DNA to cosmic data, and encourages reflection on humanity’s role amidst a rapidly digitalizing world.
