The Joyful Blend of Art and Comedy at Gags and Graphics Fair 2024
The Gags and Graphics Fair is an art market that combines creativity and humor seamlessly in one vibrant event. Taking place over three days, from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at the Creative Hall of M Bloc Space, South Jakarta, the event is the brainchild of the creative team at Redwoods Digital Growth Group—known for their expertise in printing, consulting, and media—alongside the initiative by Qualita Company. Drawing from a community built around various intellectual properties (IPs), the idea of merging art and humor into a single event was born.
“Humor is our core as Indonesians, a beautiful reflection of our resilience and creativity. It’s not just entertainment—our coping mechanism and a source of strength. With so many amazing artists, talents, and comedians in Indonesia, we believe humor deserves to take center stage,” said Lulu Bong, Founder of Qualita Company and the Gags and Graphics Fair.
The event’s primary concept was to create an art market that connected creative works with their audiences. Humor took center stage through live performances, including two signature programs from The Maple Media: Breaking Bad News Live hosted by Arif Brata with guest star Indra Frimawan, and Trick Room Live hosted by Gusti & Nehru featuring Ketawa Comedy Club (Oza Rangkuti, Ilham Setyadi, and Rais Marasabessy). Another highlight was Sesi Dengar Live, an intimate live music session from The Maple Media, which featured Dere, Irama Pantai Selatan, and Rasukma on the event’s second day.
Visitors also participated in a limited-slot RISO workshop by Qualita Company, where they learned to create notebooks and mini-zines from scratch, gaining basic insights into risograph printing and preparing creative works for print. “This event brought together the funniest minds in the creative world, blending visual appeal with a touch of humor and wit. It was a space to connect, laugh, and celebrate the brilliance of creativity through humor,” concluded Lulu Bong.
