Exploring the Diversity of Creative Expression at Cirebon Art & Zine Fest 2024
Cirebon Art & Zine Fest 2024 successfully took place between May 24-26, 2024. This event served as a meeting point for communities, independent publishers, and zine makers focusing on self-publishing culture and its derivatives in Cirebon. Under the theme "A-Z in a Spectrum," the festival encompassed everything related to art and the creative economy within one unified platform: diverse expressions.
The festival emerged in response to the increasing activity in artistic production and alternative consumption in the creative economy sector in Cirebon over the past few years. Cirebon Art & Zine Fest aims to open new channels for a culture that supports the diversity of creative expressions in Cirebon. In its organization, the festival involved various collaborating communities, artists, publishers, writers, musicians, and filmmakers who share the same spirit and urgency. Thus, the event was not only a showcase but also a space for negotiation and the formation of an artistic ecosystem in Cirebon.

A range of engaging programs was arranged to enliven Cirebon Art & Zine Fest 2024. These programs included discussion sessions featuring experts and art practitioners sharing their insights and experiences, creative workshops offering hands-on training in various art fields, and an art exhibition curated by Rekareka Act & Sanggar Ikhtiar. The exhibition showcased works by artists such as Agung Fadilah, Aldizar Ahmad Gifhari, Ebi Chris, Emirsa, Firza Zulkifli, Nazar, Gandi, Ibnu Mujahir Fadli, Iqbal Beal, Posyandu Terakota, MRTO, Raffael Arlief, TMBKBR, and Yuan Alfasa. Additionally, there were live performances from local performers, a bazaar selling various artworks, zines, and books, live screen printing demonstrations by Cirebon Screen Printers, and screenings of independent films, adding to the excitement of the event.
With this diverse array of programs, Cirebon Art & Zine Fest 2024 successfully drew attention not only from the creative community but also from the general public eager to explore the world of art and the creative economy. The festival is expected to become a pioneer in building an inclusive and dynamic artistic ecosystem in Cirebon. By showcasing a variety of creative expressions, the festival effectively demonstrated that art can be a powerful medium to unite various ideas and concepts.
