Evolutional Creativity Visits Dia.Lo.Gue
On December 15, 2024, author Eisuke Tachikawa, Simpul Group, and the Bandung Institute of Technology Design Leadership Program brought Evolutional Creativity to Dia.Lo.Gue, South Jakarta. Titled “Evolutional Creativity: Mutation and Selection Behind Creation”, the event encompassed the launch of the Indonesian translation of Eisuke’s book as well as the opening of the exhibition attended by the author himself.
Inviting guests from a variety of sectors including the creative industry, economics, the business sector, technology, education, and more, all came to grow a deeper understanding of Eisuke’s creative method. “I am very excited about the launch of this book and the Evolutional Creativity exhibition. To be creative, we must dare to think beyond boundaries, yet remain relevant to the current situation. I hope this book and exhibition will open our eyes to the fact that creativity is something that can be learned by anyone and used to make a significant impact,” said Eisuke Tachikawa, a cross-disciplinary design strategist and CEO of the design firm NOSIGNER.
In this exhibition, visitors are invited to dive deeper into the contents of the book and the new creative method, Evolutional Creativity. There are three distinct areas in the exhibition, each focusing on the processes of mutation and selection. The first area features materials related to the 9 patterns of mutation and selection based on futuristic and historical observations, which are also outlined in the book. The second area presents materials related to selection based on anatomical observations. Meanwhile, the third area showcases materials related to selection based on ecological observations. Simpul Group and Pear Press were also supported by the interior design studio LIB and the art exhibition design studio this/PLAY in the design of this exhibition.
This exhibition also presents the results of a workshop from Design Leadership - FSRD ITB in collaboration with Eisuke Tachikawa, which observed Indonesia’s motorcycle culture using the Evolutional Creativity method through historical, ecological, and anatomical lenses. Previously, the outcomes of this workshop were showcased in an exhibition titled “Motorcycle Culture and Evolutionary Creativity,” held concurrently with the first launch of the book Evolutional Creativity at ITB Bandung on November 22.
The “Evolutional Creativity: Mutation and Selection Behind Creation” exhibition is open to the public until January 15, 2025 at Dia.Lo.Gue, South Jakarta and you can get your copy of Kreativitas Evolusioner here.
